The success of the Pro 100Mk2 cabinet design made the Reference 210 a natural progression. It takes an established platform and adds the missing link that projects the model into a world class Reference Grade Audio product and establishes itself at home underpinning the most accomplished audio system. It doesn’t matter whether it is a pair of small stand mount speakers in a 2 channel stereo system or largest of floor standers. All parts of this models have been specially designed to position the Reference 210 firmly in Reference Series line-up. New driver elements such as spider and coil, new main CPU motherboard and separate amplifier to handle the increased power delivered to the driver and ABR assembly are just some of the areas of development undertaken.
MJ Acoustics has been associated with a large sound from a small cabinet since the company started. The Reference 210 is no exception with a small requirement for real-estate and slender good looks. When finished in a sumptuous veneer it disappears into the aesthetics of a room working its audio magic without drawing attention to the cabinet. In this world where bigger is deemed as better, MJ proves once again that size does not have to be the limiting factor to performance. We make every part of the many elements super efficient and the result is a subwoofer that belies its size and stands head and shoulders above the competition when Audiophile integration is considered. Make no mistake this will happily shake your room in a movie but it does it with speed precision and musical agility in a way that only an MJ Sub-bass system can. With the addition of twin crossovers, you have the unique ability to integrate with multi-sources simultaneously. It is rather like having 2 complete sub-bass systems in one cabinet.
We took this cabinet platform and added the ability to make very accurate adjustments so that in multiple subwoofer systems you can properly tune them with repeatable settings that can be stored in non-volatile memory. We provide for the use of multiple inputs and twin crossovers so multiple inputs can be augmented with different settings for a perfect system integration.
Our design team increased the efficiency of output from ABR by fine tuning its mass and damping qualities and then pushed the boundaries as far as possible to extract the most output possible, raising the power available along with enhanced filters and crossover layouts. It takes a special level of digital control to manage all these processes whilst making sure that the audio signal remains in the analogue domain. DAMP 2nd Gen provides this operating system control and faster processors are employed in Reference 210 to accommodate these important processes.
Reference 210 is diminutive. It actually takes up the same floor space as the Reference 100Mk3. The accuracy of parameter setting is provided by the addition of MJ’s legendary DAMP 2nd Gen microprocessor circuits that handle the display, crossover, gain settings, phase, power meter, in addition to all the protection circuits. With the required tweaks in filter design to accommodate the natural roll off characteristic changes in the cone from the mass of the ABR, we established a magnetic structure and Gauss setting for the motor assembly that extracts the very best from this Bass Engine/ABR combination. Increasing power up to 250watts the efficiency of the motor assembly was honed to perfection releasing its full potential and the results immediately noticeable. Legendary High-Level and Line-Level inputs with Twin independent gain settings complete the design.
Reference 210 complements the most discerning cinema and music system! Class A/B MOSFET amplifier feeds an ultra long-throw super-rigid 10” sub-bass driver combination of rugged efficient design and finish. Matched with a critically damped ABR structure that tunes the cabinet forward firing bass output. Listening position is assured a spacious and dynamic bass extension to the lower octaves as well as freeing up the important mid-band and treble.
Add to this a beautiful non-reflective Polyurethane Satin finish, and attention to the finest and smallest detail. Reference 210 delivers a vast punch and solid slam – without the dreaded overhang – down to a gut-wrenching 10Hz.
MJ’s unique combination of state-of-the-art electronics mated to specially tuned hand-built sealed cabinet affords the user the ultimate in sub-bass control. Deep and powerful enough for the most demanding movie soundtrack, yet subtle, agile, fast, and accurate for the highest fidelity in music listening. It really is just like being there! Scary at times when the director of the movie intends it but if removed, leaves a system without foundation. Once installed and dialled in you will not want to be without it.
For a totally immersive and completely unforgettable sound stage, Reference 210 is the addition to your music system you have been waiting for!
It’s just like being there! TOTALLY UNFORGETTABLE!
When a subwoofer sounds and looks this good, there’s no alternative. The best 100% British Subwoofers available.
